Each principal will inspect each of the buildings in his or her charge at least twice each month during the regular school session in accordance with the General Statutes of the State of North Carolina and such other regulations as may be prescribed for fire safety by the Commissioner of Insurance and the State Board of Education. Each principal will file a report of such inspections once each month during the regular school session with the superintendent.

Each principal will conduct a fire drill during the first week of school and thereafter at least once each month, as required by the General Statutes. Fire drills will include all pupils and school employees. During the fire drill, teachers will account for all pupils assigned to them for that period by conducting a roll-call count.
