School Year: 2025-2026
School: North Wilkesboro Elementary School
Date Submitted: August 20, 2025
The plan outlined here is specific to North Wilkesboro Elementary and its adherence to WCS Policy 1310/4002. One of our main priorities at North Wilkesboro Elementary is to engage stakeholders effectively. We are committed to creating opportunities for open communication, building positive relationships, and providing information that promotes the academic achievement of our students. We recognize the importance of forming valuable partnerships to ensure that we are meeting the needs of all students. This document details our efforts to actively involve parents and families at North Wilkesboro Elementary.
Policy Involvement
The Title I Parental Involvement Policy Plan was created with valuable input from our stakeholders. We are passionately committed to engaging parents throughout the school year, recognizing that strong partnerships between home and school are essential for student success. Our opening Open House event will serve as a cornerstone for building these positive relationships. During this gathering, parents will gain critical insights into academic standards, effective communication methods, ways to support their child's learning, behavioral expectations, and matters of school safety. This event will also provide an opportunity for parents to understand our Title I status, WCS Policy 1310/4002, and our comprehensive Parent and Family Engagement Plan. Throughout the year, North Wilkesboro Elementary will host a range of events specifically designed to strengthen parent-school connections and enhance students' academic achievements. Each event will be documented with agendas and check-in sheets.
Engaging parents as active participants in our school team is vital to ensuring all key stakeholders are represented and involved. We will prioritize collecting feedback from parents to continuously improve our engagement efforts. Information will be shared in a clear, accessible format that resonates with all parents. Our dedicated parent liaison and interpreter will be available to support both students and families in navigating their educational journey.
Shared Responsibility for High Student Academic Achievement
The School/Parent Compact serves as a communication tool designed to support the academic success of parents, students, and school staff. This Compact outlines an agreement on how each party, including the student, will collaborate effectively to promote student achievement. All involved parties will review and sign the agreement to ensure clear communication. Further discussions about academic performance will take place during parent-teacher conferences. North Wilkesboro Elementary will also engage with the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) and the Parent Advisory Board to gather feedback for updates to the School/Parent Compact and the Parent/Student Handbook. At North Wilkesboro, we encourage parental involvement to enhance the educational success of all students.
Building Capacity for Involvement
At North Wilkesboro Elementary School, we encourage parents and families to actively participate in their child's education. We highly value family involvement in our students' educational journey. We believe that a strong partnership between parents, teachers, and the school community is essential to creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
We encourage all parents and guardians to actively participate in their child's education by attending school events and joining the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO). We support students' performance in collaboration with our PTO. Throughout the school year, we will hold multiple events to foster relationships and engage parents. Parents will have opportunities to learn about the curriculum at each grade level and how to support student learning at home. An interpreter will ensure that parents' communications are translated. We are committed to ensuring all parents can access information and resources, regardless of language proficiency. Translation services are available for those needing assistance with communication. Please contact the school office to request translation support. Our parent liaison actively promotes and encourages parent involvement to strengthen interactions between families and the school.
Effective communication is fundamental to building strong relationships with our parents. North Wilkesboro will use grade-level parent newsletters, our school website, social media, and School Messenger to promote school-wide events and encourage participation.
Accessibility
At North Wilkesboro, we communicate with parents in multiple ways throughout the school year. This includes Remind, Messenger, social media, the school website, and written invitations. Parents are provided pertinent information during Open House. All teachers provide contact information to promote communication between school and home. Parents receive communication regarding upcoming events at the school, and documents are translated to ensure accessibility for all parents. Our Parent Liaison and Interpreter serve as additional supports to engage parents at North Wilkesboro Elementary.
Documents will be sent home with students for parents to review. A handbook will be provided to each family detailing pertinent information. Parents are encouraged to review the information and contact the school if needed. Staff members will assist in the distribution and collection of Title I documentation. The Title I Representative will ensure required documents are maintained at the school level.
Funding
North Wilkesboro Elementary utilizes Title I funds to engage students and families in meaningful activities that promote family engagement and student learning. This included family communication folders, activities, curriculum nights, instructional materials, purchasing software, and supplies. In addition, Title I funds are utilized to provide a parent liaison, teacher assistants, and a Reflection/SEL coordinator.
