5222 Fund Raising Activities

The Wilkes County Board of Education believes the role of school children in fund-raising activities should be very limited and closely supervised. To this extent the Board adopts the following policy statements:
  • Elementary and Middle Schools (K-8)
Elementary and middle schools shall not be involved in sales campaigns of any kind that involve door-to-door solicitations by children.
  • Secondary Schools (9-12)
Secondary schools may have only one schoolwide fund-raising project per year approved by the principal and Board of Education. In addition to the schoolwide project, clubs or other organizations may conduct one fund-raising activity with the approval of the principal.

Picture sales that do not involve solicitation by students may be conducted at all schools. However, in no case shall a student's picture be omitted from a school annual because his picture was not made at school, nor shall he be charged to have his picture put in the annual. Pictures will also be bid and the cost will generate no more than 50% profit.
