Wilkesboro Elementary School's PFE Plan

Title 1 School Parent and Family Engagement Plan

School Year: 2025-2026

School: Wilkesboro Elementary School

Date Submitted: September 8, 2025

This plan applies to Wilkesboro Elementary School. This plan describes how WES applies WCS Policy 1310/4002 (available on the WCS website). WES is committed to helping every child reach their full potential through strong partnerships among families, staff, and the community.

Policy Involvement

The Title I Parent and Family Engagement Policy is created with input from parents, staff, and community stakeholders. The School Leadership Team works with the PTO Executive and Parent Advisory Teams to design the plan, share updates, and collect feedback. Parent representatives also attend WCS district Title I meetings.

At the start of the school year, WES hosts annual Title I meetings through family conferences offered to families at convenient times. During these meetings, families learn about:

  • Our Title I school status and parent rights
  • The Parent and Family Engagement Plan
  • Curriculum, academic standards, and assessments
  • Grade-level expectations and school compacts
Families will also receive updates on the Title I plan, opportunities to serve on advisory teams or as volunteers, and ways to give feedback. Meetings are offered during the day, evening, and virtually when requested. Interpreters are available, and all information is provided in clear, family-friendly formats.

Shared Responsibility for High Student Academic Achievement

The school-parent compact outlines how staff, parents, and students will work together for success. Each year, the compact is reviewed and revised with input from parents, the advisory team, and PTO. Teachers review the compact during conferences, and it is included in the parent/student handbook.

WES values parent participation. Teachers share weekly digital newsletters (translatable) to keep families updated and provide resources for learning at home. Parent conferences are held each quarter and upon request.

Building Capacity for Involvement

We host at least four family night events each year, featuring updates on student progress, curriculum, performances, and opportunities for engagement. The School Leadership Team and PTO team meet monthly, while the Parent Advisory Team meets quarterly-meetings are open to all families. Invitations are shared through our website, newsletter, Remind, and Infinite Campus Parent Portal.

Accessibility

We communicate with families through multiple channels:

  • Weekly Campus Messenger Parent Portal & Remind phone calls, emails, and posts
  • Weekly digital newsletter (translatable)
  • Invitations and updates via the website, Remind, Infinite Campus Parent Portal, and social media
  • Two-way communication through Remind and Facebook messaging
All digital platforms allow translation into multiple languages. Invitations and phone calls are shared in both English and Spanish. Our school website is ADA-compliant, and an interpreter is available for meetings, calls, and family support.

Funding

Title I funds support family and student engagement by providing:

  • Student folders, family car tags, handbooks, and printed family calendars
  • Instructional materials, software, and supplies
  • Computer equipment and professional development
  • Tutoring and additional staff support
  • Materials for parent and family engagement events
