Goal One By 2025, WCS will fill non-certified vacancies within 30 calendar days of the posting date.
Strategies:
  • WCS will promote awareness of career and employment opportunities in order to attract potential qualified and skilled applicants.
  • WCS will review non-certified salaries with a goal of non-certified pay scales being at or above the regional average.
Goal Two By 2025, WCS will fill district-determined, hard to fill licensed vacancies within 30 calendar days of the vacancy posting.
Strategies:
  • WCS will promote awareness of career and employment opportunities in order to attract potential qualified and skilled applicants.
  • WCS will connect potential applicants with personal resources offered in Wilkes County in order to promote employment retention.
  • WCS, depending on available resources, will utilize appropriate funding to provide tuition reimbursement and hiring bonuses for hard to fill positions determined by the district.
  • WCS, depending on funding, will provide reimbursement for licensure exams of district designated hard to fill licensed vacancies.
Goal Three By 2025, the number of WCS employees enrolled in a school leadership program will increase by 20% annually.
Strategies:
  • WCS, depending on funding, will provide partial tuition reimbursement to approved licensed employees enrolled in a school leadership program.
  • WCS, depending on available resources, will develop and implement a leadership academy for teacher leaders potentially considering school leadership as a career.
Goal Four By 2025, the WCS turnover rate will be at or below the state average.
Strategies:
  • WCS will review the Beginning Teacher Support Plan annually to create a common framework of teacher support.
  • WCS will collect data on reasons for separation of employment for review and action.
Goal Five By 2025, WCS will increase the retention of non-certified employees by 20%.
Strategies:
  • WCS will investigate available resources to increase and maintain a competitive salary schedule for non-certified employees at or above the regional average.
