Wilkes County Schools Pre-K classrooms use North Carolina Foundations for Early Learning and Development and The Creative Curriculum to plan for and guide children's learning.
 
Wilkes County Schools gives children in the Pre-K program:
  • a warm, safe, and sanitary environment;
  • a rich array of concrete materials;
  • large blocks of uninterrupted time for exploration and discovery;
  • a highly interactive environment that facilitates investigation;
  • a curriculum that supports children's healthy development;
  • discipline that is based in guidance;
  • support to investigate subjects that are initiated by children;
  • a diverse learning experience with children from different cultures and abilities; and
  • highly qualified and trained teachers and teacher assistants.
