Teachers Give Back

On October 14, teachers from Moravian Falls Elementary and North Wilkesboro Elementary volunteered packing student backpack bags for Wilkes County Schools' students at Samaritan's Kitchen. They packed 160 bags! Samaritan's Kitchen shared the number of students that are served in our district and at our individual schools with our teachers. Instructional Specialist Hannah Peacock said, "It was a great afternoon learning more about the community we serve."

 

Ribbon Cutting for Raised Garden Bed

The Ferguson Grange recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony at Boomer-Ferguson Elementary School at the new raised garden bed project they are sponsoring!

 

Honoring Custodial Staff

October 2 was National Custodial Worker's Day. Custodial staff are often the first to arrive each day and the last to leave. We appreciate all that they do to keep our buildings safe, clean and running smoothly!

 

5th Annual English Learner Family Night

On October 1, Wilkes County Schools' ESL department hosted the 5th annual English Learner Family Night! It was a night of celebration for students who exited the EL program. Congratulations to student, Kelsey R., who was recognized for having the most growth on the annual EL assessment! We are so proud of you all!

 

WCS Hosts Leader in Me Summit

Wilkes County Schools welcomed schools from NC, SC, and TN as they hosted the middle school LEAD summit October 22-23! Our middle schools had the opportunity to show how we have implemented the Leader in Me program, and what an impact it is making on our community! Way to go, students & staff! You made us proud!

 

Traphill Elementary Holds Junior Beta Club Induction Ceremony

Traphill Elementary held their Junior Beta Club Induction Ceremony on October 30. Congratulations to these students!

 

UTA Students Lead Education Day Tour of WCS

Students from UTA (United Teens in Action) got the opportunity to lead a group from the community on a tour of Wilkes County Schools! The Wilkes Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Wilkes group visited the school district as part of their "Education Day". After visiting the administrative office, they spent the day getting to know students from UTA (United Teens in Action) and rode an activity bus together to visit three of our schools: Moravian Falls Elementary, Central Wilkes Middle, and East Wilkes High School!

 

A Month of Thanking Principals

October is National Principal's Month! This month we celebrate and thank our 22 principals for the amazing work they do for our students, families, and staff!
