Session 1 Class Dates: June 10, 11, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21 (Make-Up Day)
Session 2 Class Dates: July 22, 23, 24, 25, 29, 30, 31; August 1, and 2 (Make-Up Day)
Class Times (for both sessions): 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM Monday - Wednesday; 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM on Thursday (please be on time)
State law requires students to be 14½ by the first day of Driver's Education classes.
Registration: Registration forms can be picked up in the office or printed from the Wilkes County School website. They must be turned in to the office by May 22, 2024. Please indicate on your registration form which session you wish to attend.
Be sure to include the student's school email address and a cell phone number for both the student and a parent. Homeschool students will also need a valid email address. It is very important that all information is legible and accurate.
*Students will be contacted by school CANVAS and a list will be posted at the front office to confirm enrollment. If a student is not contacted 24 hours in advance of the first scheduled session, the instructor should be notified! Please contact Mike Greene at (336) 957-6627 or [email protected].

A $65 fee will be collected for the class at 5:15 followed by a short meeting in the gym starting at 6:00.
Additional Information and Requirements
The classes are open to all public school students, homeschooled students, and private school students.
The course is 30 hours long, and students are required to attend every day. Students may miss one class session for any reason but must attend the make-up day. Students must attend 15 of 16 sessions, and there are no exceptions.
Class fees are $65. Please make checks payable to Wilkes Central High School or bring $65 cash. Fees will be taken up the first day of class or during the parent meeting. Please do not put money or checks in the registration packets.
Behind the Wheel training will begin with the oldest students being scheduled first. Please do not expect to be given a driving schedule when the classroom portion is completed. Mike Greene will be in charge of BTW training, and there are many factors that determine when students are scheduled. Every effort is made to get students through this hands-on training as soon as possible.
