Hello. My name is Joe Bullis, Federal Programs Director for Wilkes County Schools. Every fall, Wilkes County Schools invites our EL students and families to the Stone Center for a night of celebration, information, and appreciation. This event is usually hosted by the ESL department for Wilkes County Schools to celebrate the families who may have overcome some special circumstances to live, grow, and learn in our community. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, we were not able to have our annual EL Family Night Celebration, but as we have done many times during this challenging year, we have made a special effort to overcome and adapt to our circumstances so that we may reach out in an innovative way to show love and support to our students and families. Even though we cannot meet face-to-face, we are having our EL family night virtually so that we can still celebrate the graduation of our EL students who, due to their performance and progress in English language acquisition, no longer need the service of the ESL Department. Wilkes County Schools continues to recognize the unique challenges that our EL students face as they enter each school year, where they showed tremendous effort to learn the curriculum and make progress towards English language acquisition. This accomplishment will play a major role in their future success. These students serve as an excellent role model to remind all what strong effort and determination can overcome. So, at this point, I would like to offer my personal congratulation to these students. At this time, Ms. Limon-Reyes will read the names of these special students as their certificates and pictures are shown on your screen. Thank you for attending our virtual EL Family Night Celebration!

Hola buenas tardes estimados padres de familia mi nombre es Rosanna Limon-Reyes y soy interprete del sistema educativo del sistema educativo del condado de Wilkes. Esta tarde voy a interpretar para el Dr. Bullis quien es el director de programas federales de nuestro sistema educativo. Cada otoño invitamos a nuestros estudiantes del programa de Ingles Como Segunda Lengua y a sus familias al Stone Center para una noche de celebracion, informacion y reconocimiento. Este evento es organizado por el departamento de ESL para celebrar a las familias y sus grandes logros aun cuando tiene circunstancias especiales para vivir, crecer, y aprender en nuestra comunidad. Desafortunadamente, debido a la pandemia no pudimos tener nuestra celebracion anual en una noche familiar pero como lo hemos hechos muchas veces durante este año desafiante hemos hecho un gran esfuerzo para adaptarnos a las circunstancias y de esa manera usar una manera inovadora para mostrar nuestro cariño y apoyo a nuestros estudiantes y a sus familias. Aunque no podamos reuinirnos cara a cara nuestra noche familiar se lo haremos llegar de manera virtual para que podamos celebrar la graduacion de nuestros estudiantes del programa de ESL, quienes debido a su desempeño ejemplar y progreso en la adquisicion del idioma ingles ya no necesitan el servicio de ESL. El sistema educativo del condado de Wilkes continua reconociendo los desafios unicos que enfrentan nuestros estudiantes de ESL. Cada año escolar ello muestran un tremendo esfuerzo para aprender el plan de estudio y tambien para progresar en su adquisicion en ingles. Este logro jugara un papel muy importante en sus futuros exitos. Estos estudiantes son un excelento ejemplo a seguir y nos enseñan que cualquier cosa se puede superar con el esfuerzo y la determinacion. Ahora me gustaria felicitar a los estudiantes que se graduaron del programa. En este momento su servidora leera los nombres de estos maravillosos estudiantes y en pantalla usted podra ver su certificado y su fotografia. Muchas gracias por asistir a nuestra presentacion virtual. Empezaremos con los nombres.

Queridos estudiantes queremos felicitarlos y enviarles un abrazo a la distancia y decirles que estamos sumamente orgullosos de ustedes. Pronto recibiran sus certificados en sus escuelas.
