Wilkes County Schools was represented well at the NC State Science Fair this year. We are so proud of Ralee, Alea, and Anna Grace for receiving Exemplary Awards! This award is the highest in the Elementary Division and is given to the top fifteen students that compete at this level. Congratulations on a job well done!

Kellan Barton, a kindergartener in Ms. Campbell's room at North Wilkesboro Elementary School, was the first child to ring the new Literacy Bell at the Wilkes County Public Library! Wilkes County Schools proudly congratulates Mrs. Sandra Burchette of East Wilkes Middle School, who was named Wilkes County Schools 2017-2018 Principal of the Year, and Mr. Sam Yount from West Wilkes Middle School, who was named Wilkes County Schools 2017-2018 Teacher of the Year.

The Wilkes County Hall of Fame (WCHOF) Governing Board would like to announce the fourth class of inductees. The eight inductees were chosen from over fifty-five nominees. The 4th Annual WCHOF Induction/Gala will be May 25, 2017 in the Stone Family Center for Performing Arts. Community LEAD Day was recently hosted in two of our middle schools. This was a wonderful opportunity to showcase how our students are growing as leaders. The Leader in Me program is being implemented in all four of our middle schools and focuses on teaching leadership and social-emotional skills.
