Teachers seeking grant funds must receive approval from the principal to ensure the project aligns with the school's instructional goals and School Improvement Plan. In addition, teachers must receive prior approval from the technology department for any technological resources to ensure compatibility with existing systems. If seeking funding for technology hardware or software, please download and complete this Technology Request Form and submit it to Julie Triplett, Chief Technology Officer. Before applying for grants or seeking funding for school or classroom projects, please carefully review WCS Board Policy 3220, Technology in the Educational Program.
Grant applicants may be required to file an information return or need a Tax ID Number (TIN). If so, the W-9 form posted annually by the Finance Department will be helpful. Wilkes County Schools is considered by the federal government as an educational agency and part of the state government. School systems do not fall under the criteria of a non-profit agency as defined in regulations under the 501-C classification and are not required to file Form 990 with the IRS.
