About the Stone Center

The Stone Center
The Stone Center for the Performing Arts is a state-of-the-art performance center located inside Wilkes County School's Central Office in North Wilkesboro, NC. The 8,000-square-foot center offers performance, banquet, dance, and meeting space for the 10,000 public school students of Wilkes County. It opened in May 2006 honoring the family of Larry Stone after he provided a substantial gift to the center. Mr. Stone is retired from Lowe's Home Improvement where he last served as President and Chief Operating Officer. He is also a native and resident of Wilkes County. The Stone Center accommodates 280 people in banquet-style seating and 560 people in theater-style seating. It has a full-service kitchen, catering to special events and meetings. State-of-the-art sound and lighting systems provide professional presentation and training opportunities for students. The Center also houses the Wilkes County Hall of Fame, and the Central Office holds a large art gallery displaying the work of students in grades K-12. For more information regarding the Stone Center for the Performing Arts, please contact Mrs. Melissa Shepherd at (336) 667-1121.
