Information for Solar Eclipse on April 8, 2024

In preparation for the solar eclipse on Monday, April 8,2024, Wilkes County Schools will operate on a normal schedule and will monitor outdoor activities between the hours of 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm. The eclipse is scheduled to start in our area at roughly 1:54 pm with maximum coverage time at 3:12 pm and ending at 4:26 pm. Throughout the day our faculty and staff will incorporate the eclipse into lesson plans and talk about safety related to viewing the eclipse. We are also working with our athletic teams to minimize outdoor practice and warm ups during peak times of the eclipse. As always, the safety of students and staff are our number one priority.
