Moravian Falls Elementary flew the first flag on its brand-new flagpole on Thursday, March 16, 2023. The school had not had a flagpole since the building was remodeled in 2012. Mr. Biesak, principal, was approached by 3 students with a plan to raise money to purchase a flagpole for the school. They made and sold buttons, bracelets, and popcorn/drinks at school events raising more than half of the $3,600 needed to achieve their goal! The 3 fourth graders presented their plan at a Wilkesboro Rotary meeting and received a donation from the club to finally reach their goal! The school celebrated the occasion with an official flag-raising ceremony using a flag that was once flown over the Capitol Building. The Wilkes Central High School ROTC assisted with the presentation of the flag.
