Is Wilkes County Schools currently in session?
 
Per the executive order of Governor Cooper, all public school districts in North Carolina are closed for students through May 15, 2020.
 
Are Wilkes County School buildings and Central Services open?
 
Please note that the Governor's Executive Order allows us to keep our buildings open to school staff in order to provide critical services such as meal pick-up and delivery, clerical tasks and maintenance, custodial, and technology support.
 
Will Wilkes County School be providing meals for students now that classes have been cancelled?
 
Wilkes County Schools will offer breakfast and lunch service beginning Tuesday, March 17, 2020. Our sites will serve children between 1 and 18 years of age. Meals are available at each school site with the exception of Wilkes Early College High School and may be picked up through the car line. Meals are also available at community stops. What preventative measures did Wilkes County Schools put in place for at-home learning?
 
Administrators and teachers of Wilkes County Schools have created a plan for remote learning. Learning packets were distributed to your child via mail. These packets are for continued learning at home. Secondary students will be able to complete online assignments through Canvas as prepared by their teachers. These materials are available via paper copy and can be picked up from your child's school upon request.
 
Can I still rent of use a facility within Wilkes County Schools?
 
Wilkes County Schools has cancelled all facility rentals that involve the use of any of our buildings at this time.
 
I know the NCHSAA cancelled all athletic events, but can my child still practice?
 
The North Carolina High School Athletic Association has suspended all high school athletics statewide until Monday, April 6th. This decision includes all workouts, skill development, practices, and contests. We will follow these same protocols for our middle school student-athletes.
