Additional Information and Requirements

State law requires students to be 14½ on or before the first day of class.
This is a 30-hour course, and all students must attend 30 hours of instruction. Only one absence is allowed and must be made up. Students must attend 15 of the 16 sessions, and there are no exceptions.
The class is open to all public school, private school, and homeschooled students.
Registration forms may be picked up in the school's front office. You may also download and print the form from our district website (click here to access the online Driver's Education Registration Form). Include the student's school email address (if applicable) and at least two (2) phone numbers. Be sure handwriting is legible, and do not send any money with registration forms. Fees will be collected at the scheduled parent meeting.
A Parent Meeting will be held on February 5, 2024. A $65 fee will be collected for the class starting at 5:15 PM. Please make checks payable to Wilkes Central High School or bring cash. This will also be the time set aside for late registrations. A short meeting will begin at 6:00 PM. Class rules and regulations will be discussed during this meeting.
Students will be contacted through school email to confirm enrollment. If a student is not contacted 24 hours in advance of the first scheduled class session, the instructor should be notified! Please contact Mike Greene at (336) 957-6627 or [email protected].
Behind-the-Wheel Training will begin with the oldest students being scheduled first. Please do not expect to be given a driving schedule when the classroom portion is completed. Mike Greene will be in charge of BTW training, and there are many factors that determine when students are scheduled. Every effort is made to get students through this hands-on training as soon as possible.
